Step 1: MPEDA (Marine Products Export Development Authority) and APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) are both export promotion authorities that also engage in trade of the commodities they cover.
Step 2: NAFED (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation) is a cooperative marketing body that also carries out export and import of notified commodities such as pulses and edible oils on government account.
Step 3: DMI (Directorate of Marketing and Inspection) is different. It is a subordinate office of the Department of Agriculture that only handles domestic grading and standardization under AGMARK and market intelligence, with no export or trading role. It is therefore the odd one out.
