माध्यमभाषया उत्तरं लिखत। सर्कसक्रीडायाः आरम्भात् पूर्वं किं किम् अभवत् ?

घटनाक्रमस्य वर्णने, 'प्रथमम्', 'ततः', 'तस्य पश्चात्', 'अन्ते' इत्यादीनाम् अव्ययानां प्रयोगः उत्तरं सुसङ्गतं करोति। प्रश्ने 'किं किम्' इति अस्ति, अतः न्यूनातिन्यूनं त्रीणि वा चत्वारि कार्याणि लेखितव्यानि।
(In describing a sequence of events, the use of adverbs like 'prathamam' (first), 'tataḥ' (then), 'tasya paścāt' (after that), 'ante' (in the end) makes the answer coherent. The question has 'kiṁ kim', so at least three or four actions should be written.)

सर्कस-क्रीडायाः (विदूषक-मण्डल्याः प्रदर्शनस्य) आरम्भात् पूर्वं निम्नलिखित-घटनाः अभवन्: 
(Before the start of the circus performance, the following events took place:) 

1. वाद्यवृन्दस्य वादनम्: प्रथमं, वाद्यवृन्दस्य सदस्याः स्व-स्व-वाद्यानि उच्चैः अवादयन्। तेषां सङ्गीतेन वातावरणम् उत्साहपूर्णम् अभवत्। 
   (Orchestra performance: First, the members of the orchestra played their respective instruments loudly. The atmosphere became energetic with their music.) 
   
2. विदूषकस्य प्रवेशः: ततः मञ्चे एकः विदूषकः प्रविष्टवान्। सः स्वस्य विचित्रैः हावभावैः दर्शकान् अहास्यत्। 
   (Entry of the clown: Then, a clown entered the stage. He made the audience laugh with his strange expressions.) 
   
3. पशूनाम् आगमनम्: तस्य पश्चात्, केचन पशवः यथा श्वानः, अश्वाः, गजाः च मञ्चम् आगच्छन्। ते स्व-स्वामिनः आज्ञानुसारं विविधानि कार्याणि अकुर्वन्। 
   (Arrival of animals: After that, some animals like dogs, horses, and elephants came onto the stage. They performed various acts as per their master's commands.) 
   
4. दीपशमनम्: क्रीडायाः आरम्भे, सर्वत्र प्रकाशार्थं योजिताः दीपाः शमिताः अभवन् तथा च केवलं मञ्चे प्रकाशः आसीत्, येन दर्शकानां ध्यानं केवलं मञ्चे एव स्यात्। 
   (Lights off: At the beginning of the show, the lights arranged everywhere for illumination were turned off, and there was light only on the stage, so that the audience's attention would be solely on the stage.) 
    

एवं प्रकारेण, दर्शकानाम् उत्सुकतां वर्धयित्वा क्रीडायाः आरम्भः जातः।
