Question

माध्यमभाषया उत्तरं लिखत। धरित्र्याः उपदेशं मनसि निधाय पृथुवैन्यः किं किम् अकरोत् ? 
 

Hint:

उत्तरं लिखन्तः मुख्यबिन्दून् क्रमेण योजयन्तु। प्रत्येकं कार्यं स्पष्टतया वर्णयन्तु। 'किं किम्' इति प्रश्ने एकाधिकोत्तराणि अपेक्ष्यन्ते, अतः उत्तरं बिन्दुशः (point-wise) लेखनीयम्।
(While writing the answer, arrange the main points in order. Describe each action clearly. The question 'kiṁ kim' (what all things) expects multiple answers, so the answer should be written point-wise.)

Answer 1

भूमिदेव्याः (धरित्र्याः) उपदेशं श्रुत्वा राजा पृथुवैन्यः निम्नलिखितकार्याणि अकरोत्: 
(After listening to the advice of mother Earth (Dharitrī), King Pṛthuvainya performed the following actions:) 

1. नदीमार्गावरोधः: सः नदीनां प्रवाहम् अवरुध्य जलस्य उपयोगं कृषिकार्यार्थम् अकरोत्। तेन जलसञ्चयः जातः। 
   (Blocking river paths: He blocked the flow of rivers and used the water for agriculture. This led to water conservation.) 
   
2. भूम्युर्वरतावर्धनम्: सः भूमेः उर्वरतां वर्धयितुं प्रयत्नम् अकरोत्। 
   (Increasing land fertility: He made efforts to increase the fertility of the land.) 
   
3. बीजसङ्कलनम्: सः प्रजाजनेभ्यः विभिन्नप्रकारकाणां बीजानां सङ्कलनं कृत्वा तेषां संस्करणम् अपि अकरोत्। 
   (Collection of seeds: He collected various types of seeds from his subjects and also processed them.) 
   
4. कृषिसंस्कृतेः आरम्भः: अनेन प्रकारेण सः कृषि-संस्कृतेः आरम्भं कृत्वा प्रजाजनेभ्यः धान्यम् अददात्। 
   (Beginning of agriculture: In this way, he initiated the culture of agriculture and provided food grains to his people.) 
   
5. ग्रामव्यवस्था: सः जनानां निवासार्थं ग्रामाणां व्यवस्थां कृत्वा तेभ्यः सुरक्षितं स्थानम् अयच्छत्। 
   (Village system: He arranged for villages for people to live in and gave them a secure place.) 
    

एवं पृथुवैन्यः एकः प्रजावत्सलः, कृषिप्रवर्तकः, आदर्शशासकश्च अभवत्। 
(Thus, Pṛthuvainya became a king who loved his subjects, a pioneer of agriculture, and an ideal ruler.)
