This model was inherited from the
British (UK) system.
Most administrative and financial oversight mechanisms in India have their roots in British colonial legislation and the UK's own parliamentary traditions.
Step 2: Connecting the CAG to Britain.
The office of the CAG was originally based on the British counterpart.
Therefore, the provision was borrowed from
Britain.
However, unlike in Britain, the Indian CAG is not a member of the Parliament and does not have the power to stop the release of money from the treasury.
