Step 1: pBR322 is one of the earliest and most widely used cloning vectors developed for recombinant DNA work in E. coli, built by Bolivar and Rodriguez.
Step 2: It is a small circular plasmid carrying an origin of replication and two antibiotic resistance genes, ampicillin resistance and tetracycline resistance, which let researchers select for bacteria that have taken up the plasmid.
Step 3: It has nothing to do with wheat, cotton or a pigment, its role is purely as a plasmid vector used to carry and clone foreign DNA fragments.
