अयं श्लोकः 'वाचनप्रशंसा' इति पाठात् उद्धृतः। अस्मिन् श्लोके कविः वाचनस्य, विशेषतः वृत्तपत्रवाचनस्य, महत्त्वं प्रतिपादयति।

सरलार्थः (संस्कृते):
कविः कथयति यत्, मनुष्येण सदा अद्ययावत् ज्ञानं (up-to-date knowledge) प्राप्तुं वृत्तपत्रं (newspaper) पठनीयम्। वृत्तपत्रवाचनेन देशे विदेशे च प्रवर्तमानानां घटनानां ज्ञानं भवति।
