Solution and Explanation

Step 1: Meaning of classification of filing:
Classification of filing means arranging files and papers in a fixed order, so that any paper can be found quickly when needed.
The order is chosen as per the nature and size of the business.

Step 2: Type 1: Alphabetical classification:
Files are arranged in the order of the alphabet, A to Z, by the name of the person or firm.
Example: Anil Traders comes before Bharat Stores.
It is easy to follow and suits small offices with many name-based letters.

Step 3: Type 2: Numerical classification:
Each file gets a number, and files are placed in the order of these numbers.
A card index is also kept to trace the number from the name.
It gives secrecy and room for growth, but it takes extra time because of the index.

Step 4: Type 3: Chronological classification:
Papers are arranged by date, with the latest paper on top or the oldest first.
Example: bills and vouchers filed month by month.
It is simple, but not suitable when we want to find papers by name or subject.

Step 5: Other types:
There are also subject-wise and geographical (place-wise) classifications. Only three are asked here.

Final Answer:
Classification of filing is the systematic arrangement of files. Alphabetical, numerical and chronological are three common types.
