Respected Principal, worthy teachers, and my dear students. A very warm morning to you all. I stand before you today to share my views on a topic that is close to the heart of every knowledge-seeker: "Books are our Best Friends."
In our journey of life, we meet many people, make many friends, but there is one companion that remains steadfastly by our side through thick and thin—a good book. Unlike human friends, who may have their own mood swings, judgments, or self-interests, books are selfless. They never judge us, never argue, and never leave us in our times of loneliness. They patiently wait on the shelves to offer their immense wisdom whenever we choose to open them.
Books take us on magical journeys without making us move an inch. They broaden our horizons, improve our vocabulary, and expose us to cultures and mindsets from across the globe. When we are sad, a good novel can comfort us; when we are confused, an informative book can guide us. In many ways, they happen to be better than real human friends. While human relationships require constant maintenance and can sometimes lead to heartbreak or betrayal, a book's loyalty is absolute. The knowledge you gain from it remains yours forever.
