Subject: Impact of Social Media on Modern Youth
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to express my views on the growing impact of social media on today's youth, a topic of critical concern for parents, educators, and society at large.
Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and YouTube have become an inseparable part of young people's lives. On the positive side, these platforms help them stay connected with friends, express creativity, access information, and even build careers. Many youngsters have become successful content creators and entrepreneurs through social media.
However, the negative impact cannot be ignored. Excessive use of social media leads to addiction, wastage of valuable time, and decline in academic performance. Young minds are exposed to cyberbullying, peer pressure, and unrealistic beauty standards. The constant urge to seek validation through likes and comments affects their self-esteem and mental health. Cases of anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders among youth are rising due to excessive screen time.
Moreover, the spread of fake news and harmful content poses a serious threat. Privacy concerns and online predators are additional dangers that parents worry about. The diminishing face-to-face interactions have weakened real-life social skills.
It is high time we create awareness among youth about responsible use of social media. Parents and teachers must guide them to strike a healthy balance between online and offline activities. Digital literacy should be part of school curriculum to educate students about safe and productive use of these platforms.
I hope my views will find space in your esteemed daily to initiate a meaningful discussion on this pressing issue.
Yours faithfully,
(Siddhant)

His success in films overshadowed and dwarfed his literary achievements - or so his critics felt. He composed several truly original 'story poems' in folk refrain and diction and also wrote a sprawling novel Thillana Mohanambal with dozens of very deftly etched characters. He quite successfully recreated the mood and manner of the Devadasis of the early 20th century. He was an amazing actor—he never aspired to the lead roles—but whatever subsidiary role he played in any of the films, he performed better than the supposed main players. He had a genuine love for anyone he came across and his house was a permanent residence for dozens of near and far relations and acquaintances.
