Concept:
Professional teacher education views teaching as a sophisticated process of "Instructional Design." It is a blend of scientific method (lesson planning, assessment data) and artistic delivery (engagement, inspiration). However, its core function is the active facilitation of growth through designed interactions.
Step 1: Evaluating "Art vs. Science".
Saying teaching is "only" an art (1) or "only" a science (2) is a reductionist view. Modern pedagogy integrates both.
Step 2: Understanding the Teacher's Modern Function.
Teaching is now seen as organising learning-experiences. The teacher creates a environment (labs, discussions, projects) where the student can "experience" the knowledge. It is also important to note that teaching does not *always* result in learning (4); learning depends on the student’s readiness and engagement as well.
