UAA, historically called the "ochre" codon, has no matching tRNA and is recognised directly by release factors (RF1 in bacteria, eRF1 in eukaryotes), causing the ribosome to release the completed polypeptide.
This release-factor recognition, rather than amino-acid coding, is what makes UAA a genuine termination codon.
