For large angular magnification, the focal length of the objective lens \( f_o \) should be large.
Angular resolution is given by:
\[ \theta = \frac{1.22 \lambda}{D} \]
For high resolving power, the diameter \( D \) of the objective lens should be large.
Thus, a good astronomical telescope requires large focal length and large diameter.
