Question

Where was the Earth Summit held in 1992?

• A. United States of America
• B. Japan
• C. Brazil
• D. None of these

Answer 1

The Correct Option is C

Step 1: Understanding the Concept:
The Earth Summit was a major United Nations conference on environment and development. It brought together world leaders to agree on ways to protect the environment while still allowing countries to grow economically.

Step 2: Fixing the location.
The 1992 Earth Summit, officially the UN Conference on Environment and Development, was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is often called the "Rio Summit" for this reason, and it produced Agenda 21 and the idea of sustainable development.

Step 3: Why the other options are wrong.
The United States and Japan did host later environment-related meetings (such as the 1997 Kyoto Protocol talks in Japan), but not the 1992 Earth Summit itself. "None of these" is wrong because Brazil is a valid, correct option.

Final Answer:
The 1992 Earth Summit was held in Brazil. This corresponds to option (C).
