Step 1: Read the direction of the reflex. The trigger is in the duodenum (acid, hypertonic contents, distension, fats, protein breakdown products) and the effect is on the stomach (slowed emptying). A reflex from intestine back to stomach is the enterogastric reflex, option (a).
Step 2: What it does. The enterogastric reflex inhibits gastric motility and emptying so the stomach does not overload the duodenum faster than it can process. It is triggered by a duodenal pH around 3-4 and by distension.
Step 3: Distinguish the others. The gastroileal reflex (b) increases ileal motility when the stomach is full. The gastrocolic reflex (c) drives mass colonic movement after eating. The myenteric reflex (d) is the local peristaltic reflex of the gut wall. None of these inhibit gastric emptying in response to duodenal acid.
