Step 1: In breech presentation the buttocks or lower limbs occupy the lower pole of the uterus. The subtypes are frank (extended legs), complete (flexed hips and knees) and footling or incomplete (one or both feet presenting).
Step 2: Frank breech, also called breech with extended legs, has the hips flexed and the knees extended so the legs lie straight up against the body. This is the most common breech variety overall and especially in the primigravida.
Step 3: A primigravida has a firm, well-toned uterus and tight abdominal wall. This firm tone splints the fetal legs in the extended position, favouring the frank breech presentation.
Step 4: Complete (flexed) and footling presentations are commoner in multigravidae with lax uterine tone. Hence in a primigravida the answer is frank breech.
