Question

State whether the following statement is True or False:
The World Wide Web (WWW) and the Internet are exactly the same thing.

Hint:

Which one is the network and which one is just a service on it?

Answer 1

Step 1: Understanding the Question:
We must check if the Web and the Internet mean the same thing.

Step 2: Define the Internet:
The Internet is the huge global network of connected computers and devices. It carries many services such as email, file transfer, chat and the web.

Step 3: Define the World Wide Web:
The World Wide Web is only one service that runs on the Internet. It is a collection of web pages linked together and viewed with a browser using HTTP.

Step 4: Compare:
The Internet is the network, and the Web is a service that uses it. Email and FTP also use the Internet but are not part of the Web. So the two are not the same.

Final Answer:
The statement is False because the Web is only one service on the Internet. \[ \boxed{\text{False}} \]
