Solution and Explanation

The headquarters of the Reserve Bank of India is in Mumbai.

The RBI was set up in 1935 under the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. It started out in Calcutta and was shifted to Bombay, now Mumbai, in 1937. Since then Mumbai has remained its permanent headquarters. The main building stands on Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg, right next to the Bombay Stock Exchange and the Gateway of India area.

The RBI is the central bank of India. It controls the money supply, fixes interest rates through monetary policy, issues currency notes, and supervises all commercial banks in the country. The Governor of the RBI works out of this Mumbai office along with the central board of directors.
